Stephen MoleSki, Ceo of Smoke & Mirrors Beauty, always dreamed of being an artist—but he didn’t know early on that his canvas would be the flawless faces of globetrotting celebs. “i realized i didn’t want to be a starving artist, and i hated school,” he laughs. When he started helping out stylist friends for fashion shows in orlando, Florida (near his hometown of Bradenton), he realized that he had a talent for makeup artistry. “i was 19 and needed to do something, and painting faces was a form of art—with the bonus of instant gratification.” however, a long road of challenges lay ahead: Moleski calls his ascent to hollywood a “grueling process.” After fleeing the Sunshine State, he made his debut as a professional makeup artist working in a salon in Atlanta, where he eventually aligned himself with high-end hairstyling organization intercoiffure and industry favorite MAC.
