On Oct. 3 and 4, representatives from the Chinese Psychological Society met with APA staff, and the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate future exchange and interaction. lloyd Wolf stockbyte APA and Chinese Psychological Society: Furthering interaction and exchange unique opportunity for psychologists to visit Cuba APA is joining forces with Professionals Abroad to send a study delegation to Cuba to focus on practices, treatment, education and research in psychology. The delegation, led by APA Past President Carol Goodheart, EdD, will leave Miami March 18 and return March 23. Delegates will participate in professional meetings and site visits each day. The agenda for meetings and topics for discussion will be determined by the professional background and preferred focus areas for topics of discussion. APA members who are interested in joining the delegation may find details and costs by visiting the Professionals Abroad website (www.professionalsabroad.org) and selecting the “APA delegation to Cuba.” APA’s Dr. norman B. Psychology is growing rapidly in China, and the CPS delegation, including Yufang Yang (president), Kan Zhang (past president), Buxin Han (deputy secretary-general) and Xiaolan Fu, came to Washington to discuss with APA models of psychology association activities. The two-day meeting began with a briefing by the Chinese delegation about psychology in China and discussion with APA’s Executive Management Group about how the different facets of APA work. The delegation held further conversations with staff from APA’s directorates and offices. APA’s Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Psychological Society, its ninth with national psychology associations, opens the door to collaborations between the two organizations.
