apa news Apply for an ethnic-minority recruitment and training grant APA’s Commission on Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention and Training in Psychology II (CEMRRAT2) Task Force is seeking proposals for the CEMRRAT Implementation Grants Fund for Ethnic Minority Recruitment, Retention and Training in Psychology. The funds support demonstration projects and activities by individuals or institutions that aim to enhance or increase ethnicminority recruitment, retention and training in psychology. APA will fund two to four proposals under each of these seven priority areas: • Professional development on linguistic minorities: Projects that promote development of training and professional development programs that aim to improve services to linguistic minorities. • Racial/ethnic minority health disparities: Activities that increase the number of prospective and early career ethnic minority psychology faculty committed to health disparities research, and who will contribute to role modeling in academic settings. (This category is not designed to support research projects, faculty salary supplements, to supplement post-doctoral fellowships or dissertation research.) • Faculty development: Projects that promote multicultural competence in teaching, practice and research among a program’s psychology faculty. Individual professional development will be considered only if the applicant presents evidence of limited institutional support or resources for such activities. • Undergraduate and graduate innovation: Activities for undergraduate and graduate departments and professional schools related to developing 80 innovative strategies for recruitment, retention and graduation of ethnicminority students in psychology. • STEM: Activities that support individuals, organizations and educational institutions that are committed to identifying, demonstrating, documenting or disseminating innovative tools and strategies that define psychology as a science, technology, engineering and mathematics discipline. • Indigenous approaches: Initiatives that support outreach, applied experiences and service learning for ethnic-minority students. • Assessment of ethnic-minority representation and participation in psychology: Data collection and research on ethnic-minority recruitment, retention, education, graduation, leadership development, training and diversity in psychology. All proposals must be received by the APA Office of Ethnic Minority Affairs by April 1. Information and materials required for submission are at www.apa.org/about/awards/pubintcemrrt.aspx.
