Haberl is a senior sports psychologist for the United States olympic Haberl Committee and has been a member of the USoC since 1998. He competed in the World Championships in 1990 and 1991 as a member of Austria’s national team. institute of Medicine welcomes three psychologists as members the Institute of Medicine has awarded membership to psychologists Margarita Alegria, PhD, hortensia de Los Angeles Amaro, PhD, and Caryn Lerman, PhD. Membership in the IoM reflects the height of professional achievement and commitment to Amaro service. the IoM is renowned for its research program, but it is also an honorific organization whose members put their knowledge and expertise to work for the nation’s health. Alegria directs the Center for Multicultural Mental Health research and is a professor of psychology in the Harvard Medical School department of psychiatry. She has devoted her professional career to researching disparities in mental health and substance abuse services. Amaro is the associate dean of the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, founder and director of the Institute on Urban Health research, and distinguished professor of health and counseling psychology in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at northeastern University. She is known for her work in community based addiction treatment, HIv prevention and public health. Lerman is the Mary W. Calkins Professor in the department of psychiatry and the deputy director of the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
