Working under a learning college philosophy (http://www.estrellamountain.edu/ learning-college) and placing learning first anyway, anyplace, anytime, Estrella Mountain Community College is hiring a psychology faculty ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Psychophysiology/Neuroscience The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama has an opening for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level starting August 16, 2012; funding has been approved for this position. The position is in Psychophysiology/Neuroscience and can be part of either the experimental psychology or clinical psychology programs. We expect to hire in the area of human psychophysiology or biological processes, such as, but not limited, to the investigation of electro/neurophysiology, transcranial magnetic stimulation, endocrinology, pharmacology, and genetic influences on behavior or development. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research mentoring, development of an independent research program leading to external funding and publications, and providing service to the University community and professional organizations. All candidates should possess a Ph.D. in psychology, or have one before starting, and demonstrate potential for a distinguished scientific career. In addition, candidates who wish to provide clinical supervision should be graduates of an APA or CPA-accredited clinical psychology program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and be eligible for Alabama licensure. The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama is a research active (averaging $3 million annually in external funding) and collegial department. There are 33 faculty, 106 graduate students, and 600 undergraduate majors in the department. The department has two Ph.D. programs: an Experimental Psychology program (with concentration areas in Developmental Science, Cognitive Psychology, and Social Psychology), and an APAaccredited Clinical Psychology program (with concentration areas in Psychology-Law, Aging, Clinical Health, and Clinical Child). ASSISTANT CLINICAL PROFESSOR Behavioral Genomics The Center for Prevention of Youth Behavior Problems (CPYBP) at The University of Alabama is recruiting for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level starting August 16, 2012. Funding has been approved for this position. The position is broadly defined as one that could require expertise in behavioral genetics, epigenetics, or computational biology. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research mentoring, development of an independent research program, and pursuit of external funding. Candidates for this position should possess a Ph.D. in biology, psychology, anthropology or related discipline, with an emphasis in neuroscience, and demonstrate potential for a distinguished scientific career. Postdoctoral training is preferred. The position targets individuals with a background in any area of behavioral genomics related to aggressive behavior in humans. However, specific areas that will be given preference are those focused on genetic or neural substrates for environmental interactions related to decision-making and aggressive behavior in youth. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program and to collaborate with faculty with related interests in the CPYBP and in the Departments of Biology and Psychology. Although the faculty position is located in the CPYBP, the faculty person will be expected to have his/her academic appointment within one of the university’s departments.
