Yes, it’s an innovative and state-of-the art facility that addresses the unique needs of residents in East Cleveland, who suffer a high incidence of chronic diseases. But there’s something more. The facility honors a vision and upholds the legacy of a respected leader. The late U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones championed the cause of quality healthcare for underserved residents locally and across the nation. The Cleveland Clinic Stephanie Tubbs Jones Health Center in East Cleveland is named in the congresswoman’s honor, and opened on Oct. 3, 2011. What the Center Means for You “This is not just a building,” says Nana Kobaivanova, MD, Internal Medicine, the center’s first medical director. “Our goal is to create a medical home for the community. We want to create a seamless link between healthcare and the social service needs of our patients, to build healthy families and enhance patient satisfaction.” New healthcare initiatives include: same-day appointments; a patient navigation program to help patients access all the health and community services they need; outpatient dialysis services; and wellness and prevention activities which include cooking classes in an Iron Chef-type kitchen. A Fit Youth program will help children maintain healthy weights and lifestyles. A free shuttle service is available for patients who need to travel to another Cleveland Clinic location for care.
