Mohon was hired as a consultant in November 2010 to help devise a plan to provide better care for behavioral health patients. He helped Memorial recruit a psychiatrist as a consultant, and also negotiated with Cedar Springs Hospital to provide beds for behavioral health patients who come to Memorial, often while in crisis, and need inpatient care. (Memorial does not have an inpatient psychiatric unit.) As interim vice president for professional and support services, Mohon oversees several departments: clinical engineering, environmental services, facilities, radiology, laboratory, nutrition services, pharmacy, planning and design, security and the gift shop.
