OUT OF THE WHITE COAT A Class of Her Own Julie McGill, M.D., excels in the specialized ﬁeld of endocrine surgery I n all of metro Atlanta, there are only a handful of physicians with fellowship training in the subspecialty of endocrine surgery. One is Julie McGill, M.D. After completing her undergraduate studies at College of William & Mary and her graduate studies at Georgetown University, Dr. McGill earned her medical degree from Georgetown in 2003. She was then accepted into the residency program at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago, where she was appointed administrative chief resident by the chairman of general surgery in 2007. That led to her fellowship training at the esteemed Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Each year, fewer than 20 general surgeons complete this additional training. Dr. McGill is nationally published and has presented to groups of physicians across the country. She is board-certiﬁed, is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and speaks ﬂuent Spanish.
