Authority Take a look inside how decisions are made at PMC week. These employees, physicians and auxiliary members continually make decisions as they go about their days’ work. Like many organizations, decisions generally flow formally down the organizational chart. What sets PMC apart from other organizations is that real-time decisions are made at every level of the organization with important significance for the welfare of our patients. It is a symbiotic and necessary relationship for everyone involved. Delegation of Decision-Making structure Parrish Medical Center’s board bylaws state that all of the decision-making authority for constructing, operating, equipping and maintaining facilities within the hospital’s district, including inpatient beds, emergency services and outpatient medical services, lies with the hospital board of directors. The nine members of PMC’s board of directors are appointed by the Brevard County Board of Commissioners (three), Titusville City Council (three) and the county and city jointly (three). The board makes decisions by majority rule, and individual members cannot act alone. One of the board’s most important acts is to employ and evaluate the chief executive officer, who reports to the board and is responsible for the day-to-day medical center operations. As a highly awarded $500 million organization, Parrish Medical Center (PMC) has great decisionmaking.
