Parrish Health Village West Now Open J • • ust steps from North Brevard’s award-winning hospital, the Parrish Health Village is being built as a destination location, where many needs of seniors, such as outpatient healthcare services, medical and assistive equipment, fitness and wellness training, and counseling services, can be met in one charming location. Thanks to Jess Parrish Medical Foundation’s generous benefactors, the Parrish Health Village West is now open for the community. It includes three historic houses that belonged to some of the earliest pioneers in North Brevard. To honor that history, the houses were renovated and now include the following services: Carey’s Guest House by Sodexo. The 78-year-old Carlile house has been renovated to provide lodging for overnight stays for visitors who have hospitalized loved ones. The house offers three private suites with all the comforts of home. Philanthropy House. The 102-year-old Taylor Dunn house is home to the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation, where events will inspire further philanthropy in support of community programs and services. Help the Health Village Grow historical parlor to showcase the history of the hospital, the health village and the community. Heritage Hall. The 64-year-old Nobles house has become a gathering place for community meetings, retreats, events, visiting lectures to the medical center campus and activities that promote community conversations. The west end also includes the James H. Sylvester Jr. Butterfly Garden, which is a healing garden for all to enjoy. When completed, Parrish Health Village East will include a series of buildings that will be constructed in 19th-century architecture. Inside the east-end buildings will be medically sophisticated healthy-aging programs and services. Parrish Senior Consultation Center, specializing in geriatric medicine, will anchor the Parrish Health Village East. Fellowship-trained geriatric specialist Pamela Tronetti, D.O., AGSF, is the medical director of the health village and is at the helm of Parrish Senior Consultation Center. The Center for Lifelong Health will include prevention, education, early detection, disease management and support services for individuals who have chronic conditions, with diabetes being an initial key emphasis. Other services will include Parrish Senior Solutions, a personalized referral and resource service led by an experienced elder-care case manager, and a variety of retail stores, including a medical device store. “This project is an extension of Parrish Medical Center’s healing environment,” says Richard Boggs, chairman of the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation board of directors. “We are so thankful to our generous benefactors for helping us turn this dream into a reality.” • 54 Vim & Vigor • SP R I N G 2 012 CALL
