Distinguished Scientist and Engineer With sadness Horace Mann School notes the passing of John Avery Tillinghast ’44 on May 7, 2011 at the age of 84. He was the son of the late Dorothy and Charles Carpenter Tillinghast, Horace Mann Head of School from 1920-1950. (excerpted from The Riverdale Press) John A.
