Operating income rose 26% to $1.2 billion. The company targeted fiscal 2011 revenue growth of about 10%, driven by comparable store sales growth at the high end of its target range of 3% to 7%. Starbucks expected to add 600 new stores in fiscal 2011 with about 100 in the United States and 500 in international markets. In 2012, Starbucks plans to open about 800 net new stores globally, with about 200 opening in the United States and 600 opening outside the United States. The company targets revenue growth of 10% in 2012. Several surveys in 2011 showed an increase in coffee consumption. The National Coffee Association, New York, in its 2011 National Coffee Drinking Trends data showed a rebound in consumption among consumers between the ages of 18-39. Among those 18-24, 40% said they drink coffee daily, up from 31% in 2010 and on par with 40% in 2009.
