The culinary creations— and they are indeed thoughtfully put together masterpieces—combine traditional French bistro cooking with contemporary American flavors. Everything from the petits plats (don’t miss the soupe du jour) to the desserts are heavenly morsels. It would be a sin to be in Miami and not swing by this restaurant, and for a pre- or post-dinner treat, hang out at the street-level bar and lounge (it’s a front-row seat to all the activities transpiring in newly energized Downtown Miami). Another self-indulgent onsite hotspot is the 4,000-sq.-ft. Rik Rak Salon & Spa, offering a low-key vibe (with those gorgeous views again) and therapists with magical hands and fingers. Meanwhile, the second floor retail area has its own chocolate shop, wine boutique, illy espresso cafe, and vue lounge overlooking the Miami River. There’s also the Media Room, located on the 19th floor, with a 65-inch Samsung flat-screen TV; a billiard room; an outdoor heated pool with gorgeous views located on the 19th floor—complemented by a stylish pool deck—and a 4,500-sq.-ft. fully equipped fitness center with jaw-dropping views and yoga and exercise studio. But one of the hotel’s most unique amenities has got to be the massive sports complex on the 19th floor with virtual bowling, an NBA-approved basketball arena and tennis court, and a Jim McLean indoor golf school offering personal instruction, golf simulators, putting greens and pro shop. The starting rate for end of 2011 is $410. Starting rate for the first quarter of 2012 is $560.
